I distinctly remember being a little kid, laying awake at night, and thinking to myself, “What’s wrong with me? Why do I like the girls in my class and not the boys.” etc. While my friends would sit around talking about the boys and who was cute and whatnot, I was sitting there thinking about how I had these same crushes, but on them and not the boys they were talking about. And of course, I never told any of my friends because we went to a private Christian school until 6th grade…you can imagine how everyone would’ve reacted to a child sitting there crushing on other girls. 

I really liked my best friend from elementary school (still do…she’s grown into a really attractive woman), and I had the biggest crush on my best friend from middle school. Both of them are heterosexual. 

I didn’t get my first girlfriend until my junior year of high school, but that’s a story for a different time…
